Mar Thoma Hospital

It is as the answer of the felt-need of the people of this remote poverty-stricken people of the village of Azhicode, that Marthoma Hospital started functioning in the year 1978 by the Devamatha Province of C.M.I. Congregation under the auspice of Marthoma Pontifical Shrine.  Although the hospital was started as a general hospital with the department of medicine and gynecology & obstetrics, learning the lessons from the past and looking to the needs of the day, by Aug. 1985 onwards the hospital was started functioning as a specialized medical center for all sorts of psychiatric patients.  Though the hospital is a 30 bedded one, small in size, is well known around the locality and renders genuine services to the mentally ill patients as a part of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ about whom St.Thomas shared his personal and authentic experiences with our predecessors.

We have a well-experienced Psychiatrist and a Professionally seasoned Clinical Psychologist who is a C.M.I. priest by the name Fr.J.B. Puthoor and well trained religious sisters as the nurses.  This institution really serves its purpose.
